Our Pathways to Knowledge - Questioning!

We have all chosen a topic about China that interests us. We talked about 'open' questions and 'closed' questions and then brainstormed the things we wanted to find out about our topics.

Our Class Treaty

We looked at the class treaty we made in Term Three with Donna and decided we really liked the ideas we came up with. We needed to get our teacher, Kathryn is sign it with us!
We thought that the promises we made really help us to focus on our learning and have a happy, friendly classroom!

We talked about what RESPONSIBILITY feels like, looks like and sounds like in the classroom.

Room 1

The Day the Kittens Visited Room 1

On Thursday Zylah's Mum, Sally came to visit with five kittens! There family is looking after the kittens and finding them new homes. 

They were very small.  We all thought that they were very cute too!

Here we are stroking and holding the kittens...




Some of the kittens tried to escape....but we were very quick to catch them!

Sally showed us how the kittens can be fed using a bottle. 
They need to be fed with a bottle because they are so young. 










It was fun having the kittens visit our classroom. We hope that they might come back and visit us again soon!

Room 1 Art Works

'Poem of the Week' Read by Rosie

Rosie reads our poem of the week 'Night Shadows'. Rosie has been learning to read smoothly with an interesting voice. She is able to use eye contact when she is reading to other people. Rosie is able to read the poem with rhythm. Why don't you leave Rosie a comment about her reading.

Butterfly Gardens by Zach

BUTTERFLY GARDENS

On Sunday, Me, Jake, Mum and Monique went to the Butterfly Gardens. First we went into the butterfly house. There were lots of flowers and butterflies. The butterflies liked my blue hat. One landed on it. Next we did a little walk. There were a lot of tracks. We saw the Weta Hotel. Then we went into the butterfly house again. Two Butterflies landed on my hat. It was an exciting day. 

Charlie Reads the Poem of the Week

Mila talks about her Bar Graph

Room 1 has been learning how to form a statistical questions, collect data on tally charts and display the data collected on bar graphs and pictographs.

Mila's question was: What colour are the eyes in Room 1?

She used a tally chart and tally marks to collect her data with her partner Zylah. Then she displayed the data on her bar graph. Have a listen and discover what Mila found out about the eye colours in Room 1.

Clarice Reads the Poem of the Week

Room 1's Weekend Writing

Room 1 has been learning how to write an introduction to their recount writing. They have learnt that they need to say when their news happened, who was there, where they went and why.

Room 1, 2012! Welcome back to school!
